Placement tests are required for new adult students with any prior experience in French at any institution and for returning students who have not taken a course at AFDC within the past year. There are two parts to the placement test – a written prompt and an oral assessment. After you've completed the written prompt, AFDC will contact you to do your oral assessment.
TEST DETAILSCan understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type.
REGISTER NOWCan understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance.

LEARN MOREThis course is designed for beginners to strengthen their competency in French. Students will sharpen their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills necessary to identify vocabulary terms and utilize proper grammatical structures. Extensive preparation outside of class and active participation in class are required to succeed. Assignments will be assisted by texts, visual aids, and cultural reflection. Students will become familiar with engaging effectively in a variety of conversations in French.

Extensive preparation outside of class and active participation in class are required to succeed. Assignments will be assisted by texts, visual aids, and cultural reflection. Students will become familiar with engaging effectively in a variety of conversations in French. This course concludes the 300-level and enables students to move on to the 400-level.
